The Greater East End Management District is transforming offensive dumpsites into green spaces, thanks to a new Dumpsite Task Force, the City of Houston, and our East End business partners! The Task Force, which includes staff members from SER Jobs for Progress, Keep Houston Beautiful, the City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods,  Council Member Ed Gonzalez, Space City Credit Union,  Houston East End Chamber of Commerce, HPD, the Pineview Civic Association and the Second Ward Super Neighborhood toured the top 10 dumping locations within our district boundaries. The location selected for the first beautification project is on J.W. Peavy at Terminal Street, near Hidalgo Park. Volunteers pruned overgrown vegetation and planted trees in spring, 2013. We look forward to working with our East End businesses, Centerpoint Energy, Westway Terminal, and Nustar on J.W. Peavy, to help us deter illegal dumping in this area.
