ULI panel reveals East End’s assets and opportunities.
The urban think tank examined land usage in the historically industrial East End, where an artistic community has grown alongside new townhomes. One of the ULI Technical Assistance Panel’s key recommendations is to create a Harrisburg Living Initiative to encourage residential developers to build in the area and along the Metro light rail line and Buffalo Bayou.
“The East End is a hidden gem,” said Gary Altergott, a local architect and panel chairman. “When you lift up the covers, it’s an exciting place. It’s highly diverse. There is a very active group that wants to make it a great place to live.”
